Planning Commission unanimously supports Carolina Thread Trail
Charlotte, NC – The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Planning Commission has unanimously voted to adopt a resolution of support for the Carolina Thread Trail. The Feb. 4 resolution states that the Commission supports the Carolina Thread Trail and is committed to working with neighboring communities and The Thread staff to plan, design and build a system of trails that will connect communities, people and special regional points of interest.
“The Carolina Thread Trail is an innovative project that will enhance the quality of life of Mecklenburg County residents for generations to come,” said David Howard, Chairperson Charlotte-Mecklenburg Planning Commission. “The Planning Commission recognizes that by acting now to preserve natural green spaces to build The Thread, our region will be able to gain the associated economic, health and environmental benefits that come with trail systems.”
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Planning Commission joins 19 other local governments and community organizations who have pledged their support since the Carolina Thread Trail project was announced last November.
