Another endorsement for the Carolina Thread Trail

Charlotte, NC – The Mecklenburg County Parks and Recreation Commission has unanimously approved a resolution in support of the Carolina Thread Trail project. The commission endorsed the regional trail project Tuesday, February 12 following a presentation by Catawba Lands Conservancy Executive Director and Carolina Thread Trail executive, Dave Cable.

The resolution states that the commission is committed to working with neighboring communities and the Thread staff to plan design and build a system of trails that will connect communities, people and special regional points of interest.

“The Carolina Thread Trail is an innovative project that will bring people from across the community together to make decisions about where the greenways will go and what they will look like,” said Dave Cable. “The Mecklenburg Parks and Rec. folks have already been a tremendous resource, and we look forward to partnering with them as the Thread Trail grows.”

Mecklenburg County Parks and Recreation joins 20 other local governments and community organizations who have pledged their support since the Carolina Thread Trail project was announced last November.

The Carolina Thread Trail is a 15-county, two-state greenway network that will be designed and created locally through grants funded by private contributions. The Trust for Public Land will provide technical assistance to communities throughout the planning and design process. Catawba Lands Conservancy is the lead agency for the project.
