Special kudos to Jocelyn Sikora and Paul Mainwaring, the 2010 overall winners. In addition to hauling in $2,000 for their efforts in 2010, the two of them have personally raised $5,500 over the duration of their involvement with the team!
The money received from the 5K run will be added to the matched donations!
1. Donate!
As a Conservancy supporter, we want you to know of a special, limited-time opportunity
to help us protect land in Gaston County and the southern Piedmont.
From February 15 through April 23, 2010, donations to the Conservancy made through
the Community Foundation of Gaston County's Run For The Money will be generously
matched with funds raised by The Foundation (up to $10,000). It's the perfect time to
leverage your gift with this additional match opportunity.
It's easy to support the Conservancy through the Community Foundation. Simply print out the donation form and indicate that you would like for your gift to support Catawba
Lands Conservancy.
100% of your gift will go to the Conservancy to conserve land right here in our corner of
the world. The upside of this special opportunity is that the Community Foundation will
match the funds raised, up to $10,000!
2. Run!
In addition to money raised through donations, the Foundation has a 5K road race with $11,000 in prize money to be distributed to the 120+ non-profits that participate in Run For The Money.
For the past several years the Conservancy has organized runners to use their talents to claim part of this large purse to permanently protect the land we all love. The race awards $1,000 for each overall winner, in addition to $500 and $250 to first and second in each age group. The age groups range in ten years instead of five. The Conservancy is actively seeking all age ranges and genders to join our team! You can check the 2009 results to get a feel whether you could potentially contribute. Team members should
and will race for free!
3. Volunteer!
We're looking for a few volunteers to help spread the word about the Conservancy and Carolina Thread Trail at our booth on April! For more information, please contact
